Default To The Library

by Randy Murray on March 25, 2014

I love books. I love shopping for them. I love buying them.

But, on occasion, I need to remind myself that there is an excellent library not far from me and all I have to do is ask and they will produce the book of my choice and lend it to me. My library even has a drive-up window. I can quickly become intoxicated with all of the things available to me, just for the asking.

“Here you go. Just bring it back in a few weeks. Enjoy.”

They have eBooks that I can borrow and read on my iPad (although that’s a bit hit and miss and not all that easy to manage), along with audio books, DVDs, and art that I can borrow and hang up on my walls.

If I borrow a book from the library and love it AND find that I will want to read it again, I have no problem buying it to have a place on my shelves. But for now my default needs to be “first, check with the library.”

So many books to read. So nice to have them lent to me for free.

When was the last time you visited your library? Where do you set your default for books?
