Secrets From The Other Side of 50

by Randy Murray on April 29, 2010

OK, here I am on the other side of fifty years old and now that I’ve got my invitation to the AARP I thought I’d share some of the wisdom I now have by spending a half century on the planet.

It’s very simple, actually. Imagine yourself at twenty-five years old. What did you know and think you knew? Picture yourself young, full of energy, straining to take on the world. What would you tell yourself if you had the chance?

Now imagine yourself twenty-five years older. Think what that version of you would say to you now. What will they say about the things you think you know now?

At 50, I’m humbled. I understand that I’m not immortal. I’m not invulnerable. And I’m not infallible.

I think this is a good place to start.

What are you going to do with your next fifty years?
