Five Predictions About Your Future - #2: You Will Earn And Spend Less Money (And Like It)

by Randy Murray on June 21, 2011

I make no commentary on whether these predictions are for good or ill. When I look into the future this is what I see.

Over the next few years you will discover that you are earning less money or earning less than you had imagined you would in your chosen profession. At the same time, you’ll find that it requires less for you to live and enjoy life than you have in the past.

How is this possible?

You will make different choices. Different choices than your parents made. Different choices than you made earlier in your life.

These choices will include where you live, how you transport yourself, what you eat, how you entertain yourself and what you own. Although you will not consider your choices to be about frugality, you will spend what money you do have wisely. And because of this you will find that you can take employment that pays less, but enough.

You will not buy jewelry, but you may adorn yourself. You will not own a car. You may not travel beyond a few hundred miles from home and not travel often. You will eat food that is grown nearby.

Perhaps my vision is foggy, but I see you becoming less of a consumer and more of an active participant in society. You’ll make something. You’ll provide a valuable service of some sort. You’ll add value.

And I predict that you’ll feel better.
