Short Writing Assignments For Hypochondriacs: #2 A Paper Cut

by Randy Murray on June 7, 2011

There are few things more painful than a paper cut. At least to the person that has one.

The pain is sharp, very localized, and it’s persistent. And there’s the added awareness that it could have been avoided. There’s a particular unfairness of the paper cut. With a knife, a razor, or a piece of broken glass you know that the object is sharp, intended to cut or slice. But a piece of paper! It’s a betrayal. This thing, a formerly friendly and useful object has shown it’s teeth in an unexpected way.

Not only have you been injured, but your feelings have been hurt.

For today’s assignment, poor out your heartache and very real pain about your paper cut.
